About the ATLAS of New South Wales
Welcome to the ATLAS of New South Wales, your gateway to government information using the latest in geo-spatial technology.
The Atlas of New South Wales is an initiative of Land and Property Information with the following objectives:
- To support open and transparent government initiatives;
- To establish a comprehensive digital educational resource;
- To offer new and emerging technology to the community.
Open and Transparent Government
Through the emergence of innovative technologies we are now finding new and better ways to deliver information to the greater community. The topics included in the Atlas (Economy, Elections, Environment, History and People) have been written by experts in their respective fields and are supported and enhanced by LPI's mapping utility, Atlas Explorer.
By utilising the latest mapping technology we can provide detailed statistics across a range of topics allowing the community to explore and learn about this great state.
Educational Resource
The LPI has commenced a program to include the Atlas of New South Wales as an ongoing digital resource for the educational community. Initially the Atlas is being made available to students and teachers through a link available on the NSW Department of Education and Training Curriculum Support web site.
Emerging Technology
As the central mapping authority for New South Wales we have been able to support this project through our existing SIX Cloud infrastructure. It is our aim to use projects such as the Atlas of New South Wales to take advantage of new and innovative technology and to improve our delivery of information. This will allow LPi to better serve our community by offering simpler and more intuitive access to government information.
